WHDLoad makes it possible to install quite a lot
demos and games, which were originally designed to run only from floppy
disks, to your harddisk.

The AmigaSYS is a fully pre-configured AmigaOS
system. To install, you'll need the original AmigaOS CD or disk
(AmigaOS 3.0 or 3.1 or 3.9), after installing these, we will get the
full configured system. The AmigaSYS pack contains every important
program, wich could be required by the user.
The complexity
and knowledge of AmigaSYS makes possible, that we can use not built-in,
"other external" Amiga programs too, because after installing the
system, we get a full valued AmigaOS enviroment, you can listen to
music, browsing the internet, play games, watch demos, or run
professional Amiga user programs.
AmigaSYS are available on the following platforms: WinUAE (Windows),
E-UAE (AmigaOS4, MorphOS, Linux, MacOS), Amithlon (X86), XBOX, PocketPC
and real Amiga computers (Amiga 1200/4000).
- AmigaAMP FPU/noFPU version support integrated. 3.0/3.1/3.9
- Pointer selection, 3 different pointers to choose (right menu, prefs...), Default AmigaOS red, Hand and White. 3.0/3.1/3.9
- WinUAE mount files added (UAESCSI 0-5 for AmigaOS 3.9 installation under WinUAE). - 3.0/3.1/3.9.
- The base AmigaSYS Amiga IDE CD mount file, retested, corrected. - 3.0/3.1/3.9.
- Beta CD mount file for Amiga 4000, it should be stable with this (Amiga IDE A4000 TEST - 1.2). - 3.0/3.1/3.9.

The package is compatible with all AmigaSYS 4 - AGA A1200/A4000 base packages.
The update works with AmigaSYS 4 systems with the following AmigaOS installations:
- Commodore AmigaOS 3.0/3.1, Amiga Forever 3.0/3.1, H&P AmigaOS 3.9, Amiga Forever 3.x, 3.9 BoingBall 1/2.
1. Extract the LHA archive with Packmaster or Filemaster, lha x,
or press F3 button on Workbench screen, and type: lha x <upgradefile> <from unpack partition>.
eg.: lha x Work:AmigaSYS4-AGA-1.2.lha Ram:, and press enter).
2. Launch the installer.
For the installation you will need at least 15Mb of free space on the System drive (System: ). + 20Mb for the extraction.

After 1½ year the Scalos developpers have released an update of the workbench replacement for AmigaOS 3.x, AmigaOS 4.x und MorphOS.
What is Scalos?
"First of all, Scalos is NOT a replacement OS, although the name
suggests otherwise. It is a desktop replacement for the Amiga. It is used instead of Workbench or Directory Opus Magellan.
The original Workbench gets older every day and is being left behind by
other desktop systems. Scalos's original author, Stefan Sommerfeld,
decided that there had to be something new, and so Scalos was born.
Scalos's goal is to integrate a lot of additional functionality and an
enhanced look without losing any of the look-and-feel we all love about
the real Workbench. Yes, Scalos is like Directory Opus Magellan, but
comparing these two isn't really fair. Scalos provides much better
emulation of the real Workbench ("the Workbench experience"), and you
won't notice any difference at first appearance. Up to now Directory Opus Magellan just provides more functions."
* 100% Workbench replacement - All functions work like the original Workbench ones
* 64bit arithmetic - Correctly recognises harddisks over 4GB
* Fully multitasking - Every window has its own task. While loading icons, any window function (e.g. Drag&Drop) is available
* Icon imagetypes - All types are supported such as backfill or complement. Configurable surrounding iconborder
* Icon datatype system - NewIcon datatype included. Icon support also visually highlights files which are soft-links in the file system.
* Icon dragging is more stable - And far less flickery on graphics cards. Whilst dragging, icons are displayed with text and they become transparent over anything where they can be dropped! MUI-alike transparency on low colour screens. Real transparency if running at 15-bit or greater.
* Cybergraphics and Picasso96 24bit color support
* Window patterns - Unlimited and easily configurable via tooltypes
* Optimised backgroundpatterns routine - Patterns can be tiled, centred or even scaled to fit into the windows. With the use of render.library, you get full control over the dithering and pen usage of your patterns
* Live updating window scrolling - Supports middle mouse button panning too!
* Drawer windows can be iconified
* Menu preferences - You can enjoy fully configurable menus (includes ToolsDaemon and Parm import), including support for context-sensitive Popup menus
* Application Interface (API) - Anything is possible from outside the program itself
* Custom preference programs - For both palette and patterns. A pen-locker is not required any more
* Nearly all Workbench preferences are used
* Installation is very easy
* Supports PNG icons with alpha channel and real transparency
* Displays OS3.5 GlowIcons even on OS3.1 machines
* Scalable icons
* Thumbnail preview icons for images - Thumbnails can be permanently saved in icons
* Completely confgurable, filetype-specific user-definable popup menus and tooltips
* Plugin system to exchange or add features - It enhances the Workbench and makes it more configurable
* Filetype plugins to display filetype-specific information. - Currently, EXIF information viewer for JPEG images is included.
* Iconborders - Nice looking, Icontext variations (normal, shadowed, outlined)
* Screentitle text - Shows what you want, how you want
* Plugin included for 100% support of OS3.9 Workbench features
* Plugin included for AREXX API compatible to OS3.9 Workbench
