Software Notes and Information

Cygnus Editor is also known as CED.

The first version was released in 1986-7 and self published by CygnusSoft.

ASDG then began to publish the software for versions 2 and 3.  Ending their development of the software in 1991.

However two years later the software house Ossowskis Schatztruhe decided to continue the software, and with the help of the programmer Olaf Barthel the final version of the software, version 4.2 was developed.

This famous Amiga text editor is one of the best known on the Amiga, released early in the Amiga's life, it was used by a lot of software developers to code their programs.

A newer version 5 of CygnusEd has now been released by the German developer APC&TCP.  This is a port of the original Amiga 68K version for the newer AmigaOS4 PPC platform.  You can read more about this version here .
