Game Notes and Information

Exile is based on the 1988 Acorn BBC Micro game by Superior Software.

This game supports the CD32's built in NVRAM for save game files.

Although we have the game down as a platform game, which it is in terms of structure, the game is foremost an Action Adventure game, and one of the best you will find on any platform.

The AGA/CD32 version of Exile is a very good example to show the power of the AGA chipset of the A1200/CD32 compared to the older OCS/ECS chipset of the A500/A600. Just compare Exile AGA/CD32 against the ECS version to see the huge improvement in the graphics within the AGA version.

The one critasm at the time was that while the graphics of the AGA version looked 100 times better than the ECS version, the view was closer with larger sprites, so the player doesn't have as wide a view of their surrounding area of the level. This could sometimes make it hard to navigate. But the improvements of the AGA version easily make up for this minor flaw.
