IRIS is a group that has deep roots in the Amiga Demo Scene. They have been active for many years, releasing everything from demos to packs. The Puppets, a slideshow released in 2001, is another nice piece of work from this crew. It features pictures drawn by their pixel artist named Yon. The music that plays in the background is composed by Nutman, while the programming was done by Ransom. All of these people are well known from other IRIS productions.
The first time you view this slideshow, I´m quite positive that you will notice the unique style of the artists drawings. His pictures differs from what we usually see in slideshows on the Amiga. One can clearly state that Yon has his own original style. Several of the pictures included brings about a dark, mystic atmosphere. They are filled with details and interesting to watch. Combine this with a smooth menu system, which after my experience worked quite well, and you have a good slideshow. It is also worth mentioning that the art in this production is not of many different styles. Some slideshows on the Amiga are collections of art from an artist. The Puppets does not fall into this category, as everything in it follows the same pattern. This is a big plus.
All in all, The Puppets by IRIS is a slideshow worth seeing. It has an interesting theme, a nice selection of pictures and everything seems to be there for a reason.
