Greetings!

Anyone looking forward to christmas? I know that I do. The first signs of it has started to appear, and now I'm looking forward the celebrations. You can call me a romantic when it comes to these things, and that is probably true. The atmosphere surrounding this time of year is great - I'm allready looking forward to meet family I haven't seen in a long time, eating good food, giving nice presents to people and so on. On the Amigascene, christmas has been portrayed in demos. We have the wide range of christmas productions with nice and cosy music. I don't think we will look at such productions this week, but more probably closer to the 24th. wink.gif Maybe I will include something that can be viewed as a little present to you all. smile.gif

Anyway, let us have a look at the weekly demos. I hope you will like what you see, and once again, please give me feedback on this section. Take care, have a brilliant evening, and see you soon in the forums!
Best wishes,

Jonas

Demo #001 - "Retrospectacular" by Contraz

This is the demo that won the Kindergarden party (Amiga only) in the autumn of 1998. One of the most interesting things with the demo is that the effects are incredibly fast, much of it due to the coding done by Skjeggspir, and that they look awesome. You will see what I mean when you look at the production. There is also some nice pictures in the demo which sprites up the atmosphere. Since there is several graphicians contributing to the demo, there is not a specific style to follow.

Required hardware: AGA Chipset, MC68020, 2MB Chip & 4MB Fast

Download it here: ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/demo/aga/ctz-rsr.lha

Demo #002 - "Deus Ex Machina" by Limited Edition

We are back in 1997 at The Gathering, a major computerparty in Norway which is held each easter. The democompo for the Amiga was filled with quality stuff that year, and I remember so well the amazent of both the quantity and what was shown on the bigscreen. This is probably one of the best compos I've seen realtime before. Anyway, the contenders consisted of The Black Lotus, Artwork, Ward, Limited Edition, Ephidrena, and many more that could be mentioned. The demo we are going to have a look on now got a well deserved 3. place.

The demo has a special design, quite sci-fi if you ask me, which makes it nice to watch. The effects are not of the highest resolution, but still does the trick. I guess they had to sacrifice some of the looks for making them run faster. wink.gif There are a lot of good pictures too made by MRK, Skize and Skutt. I especially like the one with a kid having a pill on his tounge. The music fits the demo well and is fast and furious, just they way it should be in such a production.

Required hardware: AGA Chipset, MC68020, 2MB Chip & 4MB Fast (I guess this, so it could be wrong)

Download it here: ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/demo/tg97/DeusExMachina.lha

Demo #003 - "Control" by Oxygene

From 1997 to 1995; Released at the GASP party and won the competition there. It is not strange, because everything in the demo is well polished and thought through. The effects are a bit old perhaps, and those of you that is borned with a PC with heavy 3D engines might think this is nothing special. Well, make your mind slip back about 10 years, that will do the trick, because it IS special. wink.gif Enjoy the show..

Required hardware: AGA Chipset, MC68020, 2MB Chip

Demo #004 - "Jesus was a Demomaker" by Ramses

Another winnerdemo, but this time from a Spanish demoparty called Euskal in
1998. This is 3D bonanza for sure, with kind of a religious theme. wink.gif Hope you
will enjoy it.

Required hardware: AGA Chipset, MC68020, 2MB Chip & 8MB Fast

Download it here: ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/demo/aga/Jesus.lha

Demo #005 - "Wild Copper" by Wild Copper

This is an old-school demo for sure, released in 1988. It has great retro music,
effects and design. Please don't be a afraid of the guru meditation that comes up
during the prod. It is not dangerous.

Required hardware: OCS Chipset, MC68000, 0.5MB should do the trick

Download it here: ftp://de.aminet.net/pub/aminet/demo/mega/WildCopperDemo.dms

Hope you have enjoyed the demos listed here! See you next time, and see you in
the forums!

Best wishes,

Jonas cheers.gif
